Krystle + Mike | Destination Wedding Photography | Arnolds Park | Lake Okoboji, Iowa
This amusement park themed wedding in Iowa was amazing! At Arnolds Park, not only was there an amusement park, but also a beach where the ceremony was held followed by a sunset cruise for the reception. They got the best of all worlds for this wedding! :)
I always grab some getting ready photos upon arrival. They both had the one attendant on each side- maid of honor and the best man. They came mostly ready, so I just captured the finishing touches.
We did the first look on the beach with the bride & groom. It was so sweet! Lots of emotions when the groom saw his bride for the first time on their wedding day. First looks are a great opportunity to capture some special moments alone before the business of the day begins.
The beach ceremony was beautiful! The grooms expressions when he saw his bride walking down the isle for the first time says it all. I love the scrolls they had their vows written on. They read from those during their intimate ceremony.
At the end of the ceremony when they walked back down the isle, the crowd threw beach balls in the air. Made for some fun, creative images!
I always capture a few photos of the bride & groom signing the marriage license right after the ceremony. Making it official!
I had fun with these detail shots, since I was at an amusement park I took advantage of the props already there! Donuts, cotton candy, rides, etc... So many fun areas for photos.
We did a variety of formal photos utilizing the amusement park, beach and on the boat. So much fun walking around the park getting some fun shots in front of the rides...or ON the rides!
I'll never forget capturing them while on a ferris wheel and while on a rollar coaster. That was a first for me!
The family group photos typically take place right after the ceremony, however, for this wedding we had time before the ceremony so we did them ahead of time. The family group photos are pictures with the bride & groom and each family member, or family group. There are a lot more than these at this wedding, but here are a few.
The bride & groom were able to sneak in a quick caricature drawing while at the park!
We tried the titanic pose on the boat... :)
We had some rain on the boat, but once that passed we got a rainbow!
The reception took place on the Queen II boat that cruised around on Lake Okoboji.
Mike & Krystle were announced coming up the stairs on the boat to kick off the reception followed by toasts by the MOH & BM.
The first dance with the bride & groom was so sweet and it was right at sunset. Such great timing! I also used my own lighting for a few photos for a creative effect.
Bouquet & Garter Toss
Mike did the garter toss on the boat, then Krystle wanted to do the bouquet toss at the very end when we got off the boat in front of the ferris wheel. Such a cool scene!
Mike had a sweet dance with his mom. All the sudden a huge gust of wind & rain swept through the boat but that didn't stop them from dancing. It was kind of magical! Everyone had a great time dancing and mingling on the Queen II and at this wedding!
Thank you Krystle & Mike for having me capture your amazing destination wedding. It's an experience I will never forget! I hope you enjoy the images for years to come!! :)
